Ian and Ali met at UNH when he was a senior and she was a sophomore. They were both playing college rugby (which they still play competitively today) and bonded over their athletic natures. They continue to do plenty of hiking, camping, climbing, paddle boarding, and so on! Once, they spent five months hiking the Appalachian Trail together—the outdoors of New England are very special to them both.
So you can see why my second shooter, Jessica McHale, and I were so excited to start the day with this amazing couple and their friends!
Apparently, the groomsmen loved the lodge they were getting ready in—they said it looked like the house in Clue, and they wanted to do a fun, staged photo of themselves. I am a big fan of both the movie and the idea of doing portraits outside the norm on request, so I loved how it turned out!
The wedding took place on Church Island, which is in the middle of Squam Lake in New Hampshire. It’s a small, non-denominational outdoor church, open with wood pews and a wood cross. Because the only way to get to the island is by boat, the guests arrived on pontoon boats, and the bride and her father arrived in a gorgeous wooden boat just before it was time to walk down the aisle!
Shortly after the ceremony, Ian and Ali spent a cozy moment together in the boat on the way back to the mainland. It was so neat to see these two so comfortable and in love with each other!
Back at Partridge Rock, the reception really got into full swing! Ali and Ian had their first dance inside the barn, and I loved it when the wedding guests surrounded them. It made the dance feel so intimate like they were part of the moment with Ali and Ian.
Thank you to Mary at White Mountain Celebrations for creating a gorgeous wedding day and to Jessica McHale for being my amazing second photographer for the day!
And huge congratulations to Ali & Ian! Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this amazing day with you!
